It's been a minute since I blogged.

I have been going through a massive "what is this all about" and "who am I" process. It's currently still happening but every day is starting to feel better..."normal"...enlightening....scary....

Today I come to you to talk about a big shift I have made in my fitness regimen which I think has been great for my mind, body, and soul.

Yes; soul.

5 weeks ago I started The Skinny Confidential's Bombshell Body Guide 28 week program. For the last 3 years I have been heavy into Tone It Up + Ballet Beautiful, working out up to 6-7 times a week, and truly looking forward to my time spent with each different trainer every day. Up until 5 weeks ago I thought those two things were going to be my forever and I was cool with it.

Until I wasn't looking forward to working out anymore. My hips and knees were aching, I was hardly doing any cardio because I flat out didn't feel like it, and my body wasn't really responding like it used to to these routines. I was maybe thinking I needed a change but was scared? To try something different? Or abandon TIU? I was all over the place and already dealing with the life matters I had recently been handed I felt even more out of control of this one thing I have had so much effing control over the last 3 years.

ENTER BOMBSHELL BODY GUIDE.

Just some real quick background on how I found Lauryn and her blog: I attended the Create & Cultivate Conference here in Dallas earlier this year and was placed in the track that she would be speaking in. I knew OF her, but I didn't really know her. But after her panel, OH, I KNEW her. She had some amazing take aways for business minded bloggers and her demeanor was so different it felt incredibly relatable, real, and authentic (a key word she kept emphasizing over and over in her answers...she is so right). Since then I have followed her accounts, bought her book, listened to interviews of hers, and thoroughly enjoy her current podcast, The Him and Her Podcast (which is with her fiancé who she's known since 6TH GRADE PEOPLE...SOULMATES...). Once I saw she had a whole health + fitness side to her business I was suuuuper intrigued....and ready for a change.

So. What have I learned, gained, enjoyed, disliked about the last 4 weeks?

The program is in PDF form which I found HELLA easier to use once printed. I used blurb books to get the job done and they turned out great. It's easier to flip through a hardcopy during the workout so you spend less time juggling it all through your phone/iPad and more time breaking a sweat. Just print a copy...

Her program requires 3 days of her workouts + whatever else you wanna do the other days. I chose to keep up with Ballet Beautiful the other days because the lasting, deep results I have gotten from her workouts are amazing. The Bombshell Body plan is sorta like different HIIT routines every workout. You won't use any weights the first 14 weeks but you are SWEATING like nobody's business when you're done. The moves aren't hard on your joints and actually, I have felt more strength in my planks, push-ups, squats, and "fast feet" (one of my favorite moves she has in the plan) after using her program these last 4 weeks.

Lauryn has you covered from start to finish. She insists you start with her warm up moves (I did about 20 minutes of spin bike instead) and end with her cool down stretches; the cool down was my favorite. I love it all, I do, but there's something about that cool down anticipation that my brain would start getting SUPER excited about towards the end of the 3rd round of moves.
Your body will thank you too.

Every other day you will do a series of 10 moves, 30 seconds each, 3 times in a row. The first round for me was like a test round. I had to read and figure out how to properly perform the moves and sometimes I would only get maybe 4 reps of something in, but by round 2 you get better and faster, and by round 3 you're like, "I'M UNSTOPPABLE THIS IS SO FUN!" and then it's over and you get to cool down. A perk to doing 30 second intervals rather than a set number of moves is you can safely perform the move as many times as your body can handle in that set. I can't safely (or even want to?!) do 15 full out push-ups, but I can do 4 reallllllly good ones with 30 seconds.

Lauryn's plan has thrown together some really innovative moves; combing her background in Barre + traditional moves that always produce great results (for example LUNGES...What is it about those things that are just so simple and effective?!) you will absolutely see changes in your body. Some moves I didn't quite understand but I just kind of winged it till I felt some sort of benefit. There's one move called the "bear crawl" and I still don't know if I'm suppose to just do a left and right movement with my hands/legs or crawl my whole condo so I just crawl my whole condo anyway because whatever it's my workout and the only person judging me is Butters. 

After 4 weeks of consistently sticking with the Bombshell Body Guide you will see noticeable change. Not life changing change, because c'mon, that takes more that 4 weeks. But you'll feel stronger. And capable. And motivated to keep it up for the next 14-28 weeks (the full length of this plan) to see what those weeks have in store for your mind and body (maybe soul ;) .

THERE'S BUTTER IN THE PLAN. AND BREAD. AND CHOCOLATE. AND EGG SANDWICH DINNERS. And a bunch of healthy stuff we should be eating 80% of the time, but it was so refreshing to see freaking butter on a plan! You don't have to use it, do you boo boo, but if you wanna have some bombass steel cut oats you might reach for a dollop... It's a great design for the on the go gal who doesn't have time, or care, to meal prep. I was able to make all the meals in real time which keeps me more on track than a big meal prep for the week. You'll spend around $150-$175 (this is including any seasonings, oils, what have you that you need to stock up on) for her weeks worth of meals which works out perfectly for just you or two in your home.

I say this helped my soul the last 4 weeks because it gave me a new challenge. I didn't have a virtual coach pushing me to go harder or keep up. I didn't have a group of girls doing the same thing as me to hold me accountable or motivate me. I didn't have Oliver sitting next to me as I started a new journey. All I had were my own thoughts and inner dialog which I had no idea what that looked like as far as fitness went.
